Happy Hacking Keyboards: A premium typing experience


HHKB is a premium keyboard brand with a cult-like following. As the lead Art Director, I worked with my copywriting counterpart Benton Olivares to come up with our new social tone, voice and visual updates for our clients at HHKB. After digesting the clients key pain points from the previous creative, we worked together to form the new social brand.

HHKB fanatics know that their favorite keyboard is the best quality – so we landed on a direction that leaned into the sophistication of the brand. Pulling images from art, fashion and magazines, we presented a mood board we felt was the right direction for the new refreshed social channels.

With the mood board we presented typography and color palette, explaining how each would work within our new design system. Much like the mood board, type would be set within a grid, and have a lot of hierarchy to make our product feel premium. Colors would be used with a lot of neutral to make the social posts pop.

Then we started bringing it all to life.
